Our Moon Canyon project is a classic girl-meets-former-hunting-cabin kind of story. When our co-founder Susannah and her husband first found it in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles, all 840 square feet of its oddball frame were nearly falling off of the hill. Though trembling then in its architectural state, the home’s character had been in amber since its original construction in the 1930s. Crying out for a full renovation, we did just that, approaching the project like one might re-pot an ancient tree; slow and steady. Favorite detail: it’s a tie between the pine and cedar paneling and the stained glass insert that was leftover from a CalArts student who lived there in the 1970s.
